  1. Chapter Option

We can create drafts of the main work, but there's no option to split a single, larger work into chapters (that we can then make drafts of) so that we can work and edit chapter-by-chapter.

  2. Set default document styles

I always, always use the same formatting for all my documents. I like my headers a specific, way, I like my body font justified, etc. It would be really nice to have a way to set your personalized default fonts, alignment, preferences so I don't have to reformat all the time.

  5. Desktop / laptop app

I (and many writers I know) appreciate having a native PC app. For me, it allows me to work without having reliable internet and push/share changes once I am back online. It also is beneficial to have an app that lives in my toolbar that I can open that doesn't have the option for me to get sidetracked by search windows I'd forgotten about, impulsive whims, etc. It creates a more seamless work experience all around.

  6. Native mobile app

I primarily write in the Google Docs App on mobile/tablet, so that’s the kind of experience I’d be looking for in a substitute.I write almost every day and collaborate frequently with an editor and would really like to find an alternative to google.I was hoping this would be it, but without a robust mobile option, I just don’t know if this will be the best fit.

  7. Upload custom fonts

it would be nice to be able to upload our own fonts! i for example use PT Serif almost exclusively, and it's a little jarring to be forced to use one of the built-in ones :)

  8. Share folders with collaborators/editors

What it says on the box, sharing the folder would be so useful rather then sending individual docos

  9. Footnotes & citations

Footnotes and/or endnotes are super useful, whether you're writing an academic paper or writing fiction with fantasy elements that need notating.

  10. Manually organize / order drafts

We can create drafts, but so far it seems like all drafts are just listed in a random order? It'd be great if we could drag and drop drafts in the left-side dropdown to organize them.

  13. Fully customizable themes

It would be nice to be able to personalise screen themes. I'm dyslexic, and having the ability to set the page colour to the shade of blue I like would be fantastic.

  14. Add cover / thumbnail images to documents / folders

It would be fun to be able to add a cover or thumbnail to our documents as a way to quickly tell apart our projects on the dashboard at a glance, especially for some of us pantsers who wait about titling our works until we're almost finished.

  15. Comment on main document

I don't use the draft feature and prefer using only the main document. On google docs I use comments to leave notes for myself (character motives, things to edit/come back to, themes, etc), but every time I want to add a comment, I have to either create a new draft or copy/paste the main document text into the draft version
