I have several documents formatted specifically for pages - I edit them as pages, they have page numbers, all all of that. It would be extremely beneficial for reader links I share for these documents to appear as pages, too - certain sections that rely on page breaks become cluttered and inconsistent in the reader preview.

An option to be able to select your favorite themes for easier switching.

I wish readers could comment in-line without being added as a collaborator for a manuscript. There are times when I'd like feedback from someone I don't want actually in the editor!

I love the addition of the POV check, and think a tense checker would be even more beneficial as it would be used by a wider range of people (not everyone changes POVs, but so many people struggle with keeping tense). As a beta reader, it's probably one of the most common correction I make. I believe it would also be a make-or-break feature for some, since again, it's something almost all my writer friends struggle with.

This is feature similar to Finch's 'Guardianship.' The idea is, you can buy plus+ and gift it to a random account. I think this would be amazing for people who want to donate to you further, aswell as wanting to support broke writers that can't afford plus+.

You can write notes on the page that pop up above the screen with an X to remove it, these writers notes could range from update logs to smth like “work in progress”, these appear for anyone who visits the page!

Kia ora! I'm from Aotearoa New Zealand, and as such a lot of my work is both set in Aotearoa and uses a lot of reo. Thus, I would greatly appreciate Te Reo Māori to be included amongst the supported languages. Constantly getting a red line when writing about my own home is a very frustrating experience. Especially when I AM writing it incorrectly (a misplaced macron, a simple mistype, etc) but I miss it because I assume the marking is simply highlighting a foreign word.

I draw on top of writing cos I like to suffer creatively twice. And I have a lot of homemade tools for protecting my art against AI scraping (random noise, low opacity image overlays, math etc) but there aren't a lot of similar tools for protecting my writing against AI scraping especially after it's published/posted somewhere else. When I was sharing via Googledocs, what I'd do is at every scene break, I'd just have a paragraph of nonsense written in white type. That way the nonsense-writing was invisible to the average reader but any AI scanning my work would read it as part of the novel. I'd love to have a feature that lets me select an "invisible font" that will always match the background color. Or just always have a color option in each theme that's the same color as the background. Or maybe have a way to have words randomly selected in a document. Then have the option to have those selected words converted to an image-format instead of a font format (so that an AI program would only be able to "read" fragments of writing) Idk how practical it is to make these features...they'd be cool

Please consider adding regional pricing and local payment options for Ellipsus. A $6/month subscription can become significantly more expensive for users in countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil, the Philippines, and many other regions after currency conversion, taxes, and payment fees. Adjusted regional pricing would make Ellipsus more accessible to writers worldwide and could help attract more users from different markets.

To help the part of the community that doesn't have the finances for Ellipsus Plus. Also it's a nice gift to give to writer friends and family.

I'm visually impaired and although I love Ellipsus, I've been frustrated over how small most text is. It's hard for me to read things my friends send me because I can't adjust text size on my end. Other settings like manual adjustment of stuff like brightness would be great too!

Bookmarks for reader only viewers since its easy to lose track of where you are in a massive document if the page reloads.

There is a feature that Google Docs has where you can create a "bookmark" that links to a specific part of the document (that doesn't necessarily have to be a heading) and allows you to put it in other parts of the doc (like if a character is mentioned and you want to link to that character's section of the doc). I used this a lot for my worldbuilding docs and I'd really like this feature over here too!

I'm doing a story chain on Ellipsus with multiple writers, and we edit each other's previous parts in the chain whenever we have free time. Right now, we can only leave comments or edit directly. We don't mind editing directly for small typos, but for major revisions, it'd be helpful to "suggest edits" instead so that it doesn't seem like we're overstepping. Our current workaround to this problem is suggesting our big edits in comments, but this workflow is really not that efficient.

I just shared an open document link to a discord channel I write in, and I think it would be cool to actively see when someone is reading it, as well as see how many guests or users have actually seen it and when kind of like a guest book. I think it would be a fun thing to turn on if you want. (Can definitely be an optional thing)

This is to enhance the site's security in case some bad actors try to steal our stuff. It would give us extra peace of mind to know for certain nobody will steal our work, for AI or otherwise. Probably wouldn't have to be triggered every time we log in, but it would be there in the event of an emergency.

This is specifically about words that are both already English and already spelled correctly, and how they are currently tripping the spell check. Like, for example, "biome" or "rainforest" (which does tend to be spelled as one word). Teaching the dictionary country and character names is fine once it's available, it just seems silly to have to do that with words that are in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

Link related Release Notes to Shipped Ideas on Feedback Site. This could be as simple as a link in the comments. This will help new(er) users find already shipped functionality settings. It will also help users that are following an Idea see when/where/how something is implemented. Currently there isn't even a time/day stamp (Month and Year would be helpful) on when the idea was shipped to correlate with the Release announcements. For example, I just started using Ellipsus and am searching how to add descriptions to be seen on the Folder/File Tiles on "My Work" page. As far as I can tell, this has been shipped but I can't determine how to do it. Searching the wider web isn't telling me how (makes sense, Ellipsus is newer) and searching Ellipsus help is also not giving me results. Searching the ideas in Feedback has given me an idea that says it was shipped and looks like it is the same thing. But there are no implementation or release notes associated with the shipped idea so I can't tell if I am misunderstanding what was requested/implemented or if I just can't figure out how to turn a feature on (It doesn't help that I found 2 Ideas that seem to describe the same feature - 1 shipped and 1 not).

For example: Show total words across all docs over time (similar to AO3) Show writing streak over a week / month / year

I (and many writers I know) appreciate having a native PC app. For me, it allows me to work without having reliable internet and push/share changes once I am back online. It also is beneficial to have an app that lives in my toolbar that I can open that doesn't have the option for me to get sidetracked by search windows I'd forgotten about, impulsive whims, etc. It creates a more seamless work experience all around.

I primarily write in the Google Docs App on mobile/tablet, so that’s the kind of experience I’d be looking for in a substitute.I write almost every day and collaborate frequently with an editor and would really like to find an alternative to google.I was hoping this would be it, but without a robust mobile option, I just don’t know if this will be the best fit.

I fI know ellpisus is more of a platform for your own writing, but I think it would be nice if there were weekly writing prompts that people could submit to and then you could read through people's stories and comment on them, maybe? I feel like it could add to the community aspect and would be fun to interact with each other's writing, but I get that it might be leaning too much towards more social-media kind of a space.

In Australia, the UK, and many other places, the correct way to punctuate dialogue is with single-quotation marks, not double. This is in accordance with nationally recognised style guides and publishing industry standards. The 'Dialogue Balance' feature does not recognise speech formatted using single-quotations as dialogue, so it labels all documents using them as being 100% narration. This renders the feature unusable for anyone in the aforementioned countries who are seeking publication.

I'm a fanfiction writer who has two accounts that I use for my works. One for my creepypastas and the other for my usual works I wanted to make it easier for me to export my works to my different accounts without having to log in and out of both of them each time. I believe this will save me and several others a lot of time and make the process of exporting less of a chore overall. Thank you for hearing me out.

I would love to have an option to log out of all sessions everywhere, rather than only on the current browser we're on.

I get a little overwhelmed when someone starts editing and I get an email for every comment they leave. I'd love to have one notification for "X started editing" or something. Or perhaps only getting a maximum of one notification per hour (so an email when the first comment comes through but then none until a summary notification an hour later).

I am very happy to see passwords have been implemented. I would like to request a toggle to turn the email code log in option off for our accounts. This (in addition to MFA, which I see has already been requested) would be much better for account security for those of us who want it. In this day and age it’s easy to spoof email addresses and forward things like login codes to bad actors. At a minimum you should be required to input the password prior to logging in with the email code.

Now that we have passwords, I think we could also make login even easier using passkeys! Passkeys solve many of the usual security issues that passwords have while being more ergonomic to use once set up (and also pretty easy to set up in the first place nowadays).

I searched, and found a lot of people requesting offline modes for Ellipsus - that's related, but not identical to, what I want. What I want is an option to opt out of cloud storage entirely. A fully offline program (or webapp) that allows me to control my own data, store my own drafts locally, and only let them come into contact with the internet when I'm ready for them to. Less Gdocs, more Microsoft Word in 1995. I'm oldschool. I never used Google Docs, I like my writing to be stored locally on my own machine and only backed up elsewhere if I choose to, I do not enjoy cloud storage, and I especially don't want my writing stored in cloud storage. It makes me self-conscious as I write, knowing it's not technically entirely private. A lot of what I write is really cringe and self-indulgent, I'm a fanfic author. The mandatory use of a cloud sync storage mode is currently a dealbreaker for me on Ellipsus, even though I love a lot of its other features (the export-for-ao3 option...) and my current program of choice is in the midst of integrating AI. Ellipsus devs, please consider a version of Ellipsus that offers local, rather than cloud, storage.

Here's a sample scenario: Main Folder: Sub-Folder A Sub-Folder B Sub-Folder C Inside Sub-Folder A: Document A Document B Document C Now I sort the sub-folders under Main Folder to be arranged by name in ascending order. The effect is that even the documents inside Sub-Folder A become arranged by name in ascending order. But when I sort Sub-Folder A to be arranged by 'Edited', the same sorting gets applied to Main Folder. I'd like to request for the sorting and order to be independent between folders. This means that I can have Main Folder sorted by name in ascending order, and have Sub-Folder A sorted by 'Edited' both at once. Hopefully that's clear! If I am invited to collaborate on a document, I get every comment on that doc emailed to me. I do not want to receive updates for comments on documents I am done reviewing, that others are still working on. But there is no way to opt-out of getting notifications on a document-to-document basis. The only option on desktop is a universal notification setting that applies unilaterally. I still want notifications about my own documents but I would love to be able to control per document what I am notified about and how.

Currently, creating a new draft duplicates the main document. It would be great if it was possible to create a blank draft. Proposed solution: upon clicking on +New Draft, a drop-down with two option appears: Empty From main document

(I could have sworn I already submitted this idea but now I can't find it no matter how much I search, so, apologies if it's a duplicate!) It would be very useful to be able to see comments (with the respective highlighted text) on the "compare changes" screen. My beta reader frequently leaves comments to explain why they suggested an edit, and it's difficult to have to toggle back and forth between "compare changes" and the draft screen to see their comments.

It's not clearly defined from within the writing application and thus I have no idea how to send in reports at once. And it's getting kind of unnerving seeing my name pop up as a secondary cursor over and over despite not being on another device and accessing it after a collaborator looked at our work. If you can't really easily see the option to from the get-go and have to go around searching for it, it's kind of discouraging. Whether it's in the simple rudimentary menu or you have to go to your account setting for it (much less preferred), it would be nice to at least have it or, if I am somehow missing it, to have it much more clearly defined would help.

I would like for optional plus features to be able to hidden if someone is on the Free plan. I find it hard to focus and find what I need already due to processing disabilities, and having extra features I can't and don't want to use makes it more difficult. I'm not saying they should be completely removed from the dashboard for everyone, but a way to toggle them in and out of sight in the settings would be nice. Thank you :))

Currently when you use the share > snippet tool, it strips out italics, which I often use to express internal thoughts or emphasize dialogue, among other uses. It'd be nice if formatting like that could be preserved in the snippets, which I often use to tease upcoming chapters or works.

As a writer who like to see a detailed progress of my work, and have troubles in always having to physically calculate how many words I wrote each day , it would be nice to have this feature added to version history thanks

Alongside word count, it'd be nice to have an appoximation on how much time people will stend on reading the text. This is useful for readers, collaborators, as well as authors so they can evaluate if they'd refer to break their text into more chapters.

I love hiding the tool bar to keep myself focused. Most things I use on the toolbar have hotkeys already, so it hasn't been a problem. But I find myself going in settings to pop up the tool bar repeatedly to make the dividers since there is no hot key for it. Would love one! (Maybe I am dumb and don't know how to do dividers correctly, if so please correct me!)

Feature ideas is really cool to see, but it would be awesome if there was a list of planned and in-progress features on the main site to look at.

My collab partner and I would love to have a feature that if we click on a certain comment in the "notifications" or in the email we will be redirected straight to said comment. So far it is "only" working in a way that you are redirected to the general comment side panel when you click on a comment in the notification-drop-down-menu, for example. From then on, you can click on the comment in the side panel and you're getting passed on to that comment in the doc. But, especially with longer documents and, thus, likely more comments, navigating the side panel is a bit difficult and chaotic. In my case, the doc is 90k words long and due to RL being a handful, the comments piled up a bit. Keeping track of single comments and finding specific comments again is quite difficult now. Thus, numerous times, my collab partner has talked to me about needing so much time to find a reply of mine to one of her comments, because there's so many comments to scroll through in the side panel. With a feature that allows you to click on the comment in the notification-panel and get you redirected to said comment, I think both (Main)Writer and Collaborators would benefit organisation-wise.

I was fooling around with the custom themes, trying to make one that I really liked and I realized that I’d have to essentially start a new theme to change something from the original theme. So anyway, all I’m asking that there’s a way to be able to see the theme you’re making and how it would look before creating it OR being able to delete the old ones. It’s not super important, but it would help alot! tysm

I'm loving the free trial of Plus so far and planning to pick up the full license when it's time to start editing my current WIP. With the paragraph density tool, I can already see places where I need to break up a long series of dense paragraphs. It's harder to see where my writing needs more complexity, though, as single lines of dialogue get counted as simple paragraphs. I'd love a way to indicate which paragraphs are standard prose and which are dialogue. Maybe a flag for when a paragraph is contained in a single set of quotation marks? That wouldn't catch every instance, but it would help a fair bit with better understanding what the writing insights mean for my writing.

Optional view that, when enabled, marks all sentences over a certain length (eg. 25 words), and that limit could be adjustable in characters and/or words. This would help to easily see longer sentences that could be split or cut down. Especially helpful for academic writers or if you want to be more concise. It should be made clear to users though that this is not to "better" their writing, it's just an optional tool you can use to help achieve a certain style.

I'd be amazing if within the options for snippets we could toggle "Show author's name" like we can with the colours. Currently, I add my name manually on every snippet that I export, but it'd be really cool if was a feature we could toggle. I made an imagine showing what I mean.

More and more the burden of proving no ai use is being put on us writers to prove our innocence in the use of AI regarding our manuscripts. There is the present case of Mia Ballard, but there are others who say they did not use generative AI but the defamation of the persons career happens because they have no evidence. I would LOVE if Ellipsus could be on the forefront of innovation and be the first writing software to include a feature that PROVES we did not write with ai. I feel there are several ways to approach this. I've heard keystroke documentation and screen recording (added bonus if being able to choose to record yourself as the one doing the writing) are ways to prove no ai was written. Grammarly has "Authorship" but I question if it works at all, and mostly if it works with Ellipsus. But it would be nice to have everything in house, even if those options cost more once there is a pay model. As writers in the age of AI, we need more ways to prove our human made work is in fact human made!

I would like to use Ellipsus to work on essays for school; however I'm required to use Times New Roman for my papers. I understand the price for licensing it is pretty hefty, but I personally wouldn't mind paying a monthly subscription fee if it meant I could do all my writing work on Ellipsus.

The current max sixe for accepted image file is 512kb, which is very small in comparison to photos taken or downloaded on a phone or ipad!!! It would be amazing if the max file size could be increased?? If I've handwritten anything i like to photograph it to add to a storyboard on my ellipsus so it can be referenced at the same time as the rest of the story, but currentlly all photos have to go through a file converter to be small enough.

This would be so cool, especially for collaborations and when the collaborators used different themes AND font colours that aren't true black or true white. I am currently working with a friend who uses sepia for the font and works with the pride theme, but I always work in the darkest dark mode and the result is that the sepia text colour doesn't work for me, so I either have to change my theme or my friend has to change their text colour.

I think it would be beneficial to include an option that can highlight words repeated multiple times in a single paragraph, to avoid unnecessary repetitions that can hinder reading and are sometimes even omitted during editing. I write primarily in Spanish, so my reference is the online tool Estilector (https://www.estilector.com/index.pl).

It would be nice to be able to personalise screen themes. I'm dyslexic, and having the ability to set the page colour to the shade of blue I like would be fantastic.

Personally I have always done better doing my drafting by making charts or flow maps. So I hoped that we could have an option to add tables to better organize everything.

It would be great if when you edit the original, the drafts would update so you don't have to go in and edit all the drafts as well for them to match. but maybe be something you can turn on for each draft so if you wanted one not to change then it doesn't have to be on?

I love all the themes Ellipsus has and I love changing what my workspace looks like every few days. A button to choose a random theme from the list would be great for indecisive people like me I think!

I use spreadsheets to keep all my character profiles in one document with out having to scroll/search in long text documents or switch between different files. Also helpful for task planning, budgeting, tracking reading lists.

I think it would be a good idea to, when creating a new draft, have an option to import (same as when you create a new main document). I would like to use some of the drafts on my documents for outlining/character planning/worldbuilding etc. I was surprised this was not already a feature due to the mention of using drafts for this purpose in the tutorial.

Ive never used import markdown files, could not figure out how to get one from google docs and had to convert a pdf to the import markdown file but that scrambled the formatting. Pretty annoying start after trying to leave google docs.

I would like to be able to sort the highlighted text alphabetically. I write APA papers a lot, and the citations need to be in alphabetical order. Being able to highlight and have it sort them for me like Microsoft Word can would be great.

I personally make moodboards and like to have images handy to reference when writing, so it would be helpful to be able to upload those into the document folders to work on, rather than into the document I'm working on. (Kind of like how in Google Drive, which most of us are leaving, you can upload images into a folder.)

Something similar to spell check that could scan a document for common phrases like "easy as pie", "as it turned out", and other overused sayings and cliches.
